    During PDC 2010 we announced much new functionality to become available at the end of this calendar year. Some of these new functionalities are available as of today:

    • Full Administrative Access
    • Full IIS Access
    • Remote Desktop
    • Windows Azure Connect
    • VM Role

    Reading about cloud computing is one thing, experimenting and trying it out is a completely different thing. As such Microsoft provides you different ways allowing you exploring these new functionalities while making cloud computing and Windows Azure in particular more accessible to you and your business.

  • Upgrade Windows Azure platform CTP to commercial subscriptions

    Today marks an important step towards our goal of enabling you, our customers and partners, to build and grow your businesses on the Windows Azure platform. We are pleased to announce that starting today you can upgrade your Community Technology Preview (CTP) accounts of the Windows® Azure™ platform (i.e., Windows Azure, SQL Azure and/or Windows Azure platform AppFabric) to paid commercial subscriptions. If you upgrade your CTP accounts during the month of January, 2010, all Windows Azure platform usage incurred during this month will be at no charge. You will also have full visibility during this month to your Windows Azure platform usage. Billing and SLAs for all commercial accounts will begin on February 1st, 2010.

    To upgrade your CTP accounts, please visit our offer page and select the offer of your choice. When you purchase the selected offer, you will need to sign in with the same Windows Live ID as that associated with your CTP accounts.       Windows Server AppFabric is a set of integrated technologies for building, hosting and managing composite applications that span the server and cloud. Windows Server AppFabric targets applications built using ASP.NET, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), and Windows Workflow Foundation (WF).
      It provides out-of-the-box capabilities for you to easily build and manage composite applications, including:
      • Enhanced design and development tools in Visual Studio to build rich composite applications
      • Management and monitoring of sevices and workflows via integration with IIS Manager and Windows PowerShell
      • Distributed in-memory application cache to improve application performance
      Windows Server AppFabric Beta 1 is available now for developers to start building their next-generation composite applications, and for administrators to host and manage them. It integrates technologies previewed as code name "Dublin" and code name "Velocity".
